I’ve been practicing massage therapy since 2004. During this time, I have become an outdoor enthusiast that has experienced many soft tissue discomforts first-hand. I have a deep understanding of the muscular body as well as somatics.
I often help treat my clients back to their subjective baseline. In fact, I now guarantee improvement in your muscle discomfort with my work. If there is absolutely no change in discomfort, I will offer a complementary 30-minute follow up. For this guarantee, the request must be made upon initial scheduling and follow up must be scheduled within two-days of the initial appointment.
My preferred style of massage is a clinical, results-based approach. This means, I can focus on one area of discomfort for an entire session. My goal isn’t necessarily to massage every area of the body, but to ease discomfort from the area(s) causing limited motion, pain, and/or cramping.
I grab from a knowledge in somatics, deep tissue, Thai, Shiatsu, myofascial, trigger point, sports, nerve flossing, and swedish techniques. I can create a massage experience unique to your body’s needs.
That being said, as a somatic bodywork therapist, there is always the option to explore the root of any chronic discomfort if massage treatments only seem to temporarily help. Body tension is more about the nervous system than it is muscle tension. (Shocker, right?) If somatic work interests you, we can have a conversation before our session.
Some of the problems that I can help with:
- overactive nervous system
- digestion
- shoulder mobility
- headaches
- low back pain (various forms)
- “burning” muscles
- muscle cramping
- knee pain (various forms)
- scoliosis inflammation
- neck pain (various forms)
- arm “tingling”
- tennis elbow
What to Expect from a Massage
I begin with compression and fascia work over the linens. I then use a small amount of oil to warm superficial tissue, gradually making my way toward any areas of congestion, trigger point, or stiff fascia.
Once I find these area(s), my technique can range from passive stretching, passive stretching combined with compression and/or forearm work, fascial stretching, communicated trigger point holds, friction strokes, isometric stretching, guided breathing, acupressure points, tapotement, etc.
I incorporate cupping, massage gun work, and other tools into my massage sessions to help maximize blood flow and reduce toxins.
Body tension can cause crippling trigger points, discomfort, and lack of flexibility. My goal is to eliminate pain, improve flexibility and blood flow, and restore relaxation.
Curious what promotes muscle tension and soreness?
- stress
- poor diet
- dehydration
- overuse/sports injury
- overstimulation (example: weight lifting)
- bad posture
- lack of proper stretching
Session Durations
I offer 60, 90, 120, and 150 minute massages. The 150 minute is for anyone with several areas of focus, tight fascia, and/or dense muscle tissue.
