Although suffering and traumatic stress largely store in our bodies, we are still human in that we require understanding and processing to make sense of our life experiences. These sessions are dedicated to processing all forms of life experience. Our story is such a deeply personal and powerful aspect of our becoming. I hold this space for story; the angry stories, love stories, traumatic stories, sad stories, all stories. I welcome both traumatic stress and suffering. I define trauma stress as any single or long-term event that threatened someone’s physical or mental safety and that may or may not have resulted in lasting symptoms. I define suffering as internal pain or distress.
Verbal processing is important within the healing journey for multiple reasons:
- to accept or process a traumatic experience and/or varying forms of suffering,
- better understand feelings, thoughts, and/or behaviors,
- connect/ make meaning,
- express emotion and be heard,
- and to have your healing witnessed and held.
My approach is centered around listening and asking relevant questions to help inspire agency and empowerment. I will go as deep and complex as requested while staying within a window of safety.
I invite you to call or write me via email if you would like to have a conversation before scheduling an appointment.
