Why Somatic Work?

Because somatic work actually addresses the nervous system. Stress, chronic tension, anxiety, irregular sleep patterns, gastrointestinal issues, appetite, addictions, etc., these are all directly associated with the nervous system. If we do not find outlets to expend the energy that our nervous system produces, then we begin to live in very uncomfortable bodies. Somatic work brings a focus to the physical body, its internal sensations, and its connection to mindset.

How we interact with our experiences (both stressful and non) have the power to influence behavior patterns and mindset. I’m here to help integrate traumatic stress and suffering from a stagnant or unconsciousness space to a greater awareness of your story and your experiences. Our bodies hold our entire story, we can interpret those stories.

One might seek somatic practices to (1) gain a greater awareness of their physical, mental, or emotional health, (2) release stored fight-flight energy that is causing chronic discomfort or reactive behaviors, (3) seek deeper connection between the mind/body relationship, and (4) process unresolved trauma.
